I Thank God For You

I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you” — Romans 1:8
There are so many people in my life that God has used to bless me and help me become the person I am. I’m thankful for each one. I wrote this poem in 2003 to include in a Thanksgiving letter I sent to those people.
Is there someone you need to say “thanks” to—
A husband, wife, or parent, who truly loves you;
A someone who has given you a reason to smile;
Or a friend who helped you through a trial?
Is there someone who keeps you in their prayer,
Who helps and shows they sincerely care.
Is there someone you owe a debt of thanks?
Or does your mind only draw a blank?
Whom do you thank for the air you breathe;
Or, for the strength to provide your needs.
Whom do you thank for the warmth of the sun;
And for the health to just have some fun?
There is someone we should thank everyday—
Someone who loves you, come what may.
He proved His love on a rugged cross
To save you from eternal loss.
