In the Presence of Mine Enemies

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies. —Psalm 23:5

Every Christian has enemies. Someone says, “Well, I don’t have any enemies.” That is sad… because you cannot walk with God without compromise and not make any enemies! If you have no enemies, you must be a compromiser or you are not walking with God.  Anytime a Christian takes a stand for God in the world, he will make enemies.

Jesus had enemies. Paul had enemies. David had enemies. Moses had enemies. Every saint of God in the Bible had enemies. Why would a Christian today think he is any different (John 15:19-20)?  Jesus said, “Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you!” (Luke 6:26).

The good news is, our good Shepherd prepares a table for us in the presence of our enemies.  We may eat and be at rest knowing our Shepherd is keeping watch over His flock by night.

So don’t worry about all the enemies around you.  Pull up a chair to the table and enjoy what He has prepared for you, because He has your back!
