AVOIDING TEMPTATION

Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. —James 1:13-14

On the old TV show Hee Haw, Doc Campbell is confronted by a patient who says he broke his arm in two places. Doc replies, “Well then, stay out of them places!”

Doc’s advice is good for Christians regarding being tempted. We cannot regularly put ourselves in the path of temptation without being affected. When faced with the problem of temptation, we need to heed Doc Campbell’s admonition and “stay out of them places!”
