Birds of a Feather

We, brethren, being taken from you for a short time in presence, not in heart, endeavoured the more abundantly to see your face with great desire. —1 Thessalonians 2:17

When I see a bird that looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, has webbed feet like a duck, paddles in the water like a duck, and prefers the company of ducks, it is hard for me to resist the conclusion that it must be a duck! “Birds of a feather flock together” and where you feel at home is most likely where you belong.

When Peter was released from jail, he headed for a prayer meeting (see Acts 4:23; 12:12). We gravitate to our own kind. “We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren” (1 John 3:14). If you love the brethren, you’ll desire to be with the brethren. If you prefer to be with the other crowd, you must belong to the other crowd.

Paul asks: “What fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?” —2 Corinthians 6:14
