A Prayer For A New Day

Posted By on February 23, 2010

“…ye have not passed this way heretofore”— Joshua 3:3-4

The Israelites were about to go into a new land? A land where they’ve never been. They were about to go in a way they’ve never known. New challenges… New trials… New adversaries: Walled cities; Fierce Battles; and Giants.

Every new day for a Christian is a way we’ve never passed before! We don’t know what things each new day may hold for us: An illness… a job lay off… A car accident… A loved one’s death.

Here is a good prayer we should pray as we begin each new day: “Well, Lord, it’s gonna be me and You again today; more You than me, for You know how I am. So, if You don’t mind, I’m going to trail along behind You, for I have not been this way before. And I hope that by day’s end, when I lay my head on my pillow, that I have not gotten myself into something that will take me the rest of my life to get out of. The only way that could happen is for me to not watch where You’re walking. And Lord, may I not look up and see that I am here and You are over there! Should such happen, please wait and let me catch up. Amen!”
